Japan

Japan
I don't own these images. I think the art can be purchased online via polyvore!

I'm a bit of novice when it comes to Japanese culture, however I love how products in this country have fused the traditional patterns with the vibrant world of all things manga and kawaii.

1) Kimonos are everywhere. They are so versatile as they are available in a variety of floral prints and can be dressed up or down. This beautiful piece is from New Look and I think it really channels a classic Japanese look with a modern twist. Pair this with plainer items in an outfit to ensure it's in the limelight!

2) I think I have written about these bowls from dotcomgiftshop before but they are so cute! I love this one in particular however you can buy other patterns and sizes. This size is a dipping bowl for sauces but you could always use it in your room to store rings or bracelets.

3) Red lipstick reminds me of the Geisha look. To channel the style, wear flowers in your hair with a little black liner on your lids. Don't over-do the eyeliner though as you want the punchy lip to stand out. You can buy red lipstick from basically any brand but I chose Pillar box red by Barry M.

4) When I was younger, I used to wear the Gwen Stefani Harajuku Lovers perfume religiously. The scent 'Love' isn't as powerful as the other, frutier versions. I think the packaging is adorable, despite disguising that you don't get a lot of scent in the bottle! I think the product really channels modern day Japanese style and makes a gorgeous room decoration too!

5) Despite not having tried it personally, I've heard rave reviews about the L'oreal Miss Manga mascara. It elongates lashes and adds volume for a cute manga look. It comes in several colours however I opted for classic black as I am not brave enough to sport rainbow eyelashes!

6) David and Goliath or Chicksrule sell adorable products. This sushi top reminded me of Japanese culture and not to mention-it's adorable! Plus, this t-shirt is on sale so if you like it-snap it up now!

7) Hello Kitty is an icon in Japanese culture. You can basically buy anything with her face emblazoned on it! These headphones from Topshop are so cute and the colour scheme really reminds me of Japanese cherry blossom.

8) MiPac sell backpacks with a variety of designs based on countries. Whilst online, I found a Japanese-style one! The design is set on a white background to match the flag colours. Despite this bag being amazing, I can see the material quickly becoming stained.

Grease

I first watched Grease a long time ago, however from the first few minutes I was in love with the film. It's something about the vibrant 50's fashion that fascinates me. Of course, there are many outfits in the classic movie that you can recreated however, I have chosen several key pieces to help you nail the look.
Grease

I do not own any of these images. The artwork of Frenchy can be purchased here

1) This 'Rydell High Cheerleading' tee from Truffle Shuffle is the product that inspired me to create a Grease-themed blog post. I love the simplicity and that you can channel the Grease look without going too overboard on the 50's style if that's what you prefer.
(sadly, this product is out of stock but there are many other Grease t-shirts on the site!)

2) This lemon yellow cardigan from New Look screams Sandy. The colour is very delicate and would look gorgeous with a white shirt like the one she sported in the image above.

3) For Frechy-esque candyfloss hair, why not dye it? Bleach London's Rose is a gorgeous shade to use. If you don't fancy doing completely pink, why not go for a Frenchy inspired dip dye. Alternatively, you could use a wash-out spray if don't want it to stay this colour for long. If you declare yourself a 'beauty school dropout' or-like me-not very good at hair dye, ask someone else or a hairdresser to give you a hand.

4) You can protect your eyes from the summer rays and look 50's fabulous with these cat eye sunglasses from Modcloth. I love the shape, which is similar to the pair featured in the image above but with a modern twist. For a more simple look, these glasses are also available in black!

5) Now, you simply cannot do a Grease blog post without including leather. We've all swooned at the sight of Danny and his friends in their jackets and you can channel the look too! This jacket is from Topshop and is faux leather.

6) Sandy's prom dress is gorgeous and perfect for dancing the night away. Believe it or not, it's virtually impossible to find a dress similar to this-especially with the floaty skirt. I thought this white dress from Modcloth took elements from Sandy's frock but looks a little more modernised. If you're after a 50's dress, try vintage stores!
(Ooops, this is also now out of stock! However, you can email the company and request that they restock the product. Modcloth also stock a variety of other vintage dresses!)

7) Sandy's look at the funfair, towards the end of the movie, is pulled together by her punchy red lip. I have heard many rave reviews about the Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick. This shade is 'Wine 107' and will add a little of Sandy's sass (ooh alliteration!) to any outfit.

8) A staple piece to a 50's girl's wardrobe was the midi skirt. This yellow number from Topshop is the perfect length and has a gorgeous pattern. This skirt is clearly in high demand and has run out of stock in several sizes.

9) The Pink Ladies are a pretty unforgettable part of the movie. You can find similar jackets on Amazon and eBay to become one yourself. I love the silky material, despite the original jackets having small amounts of silk mixed with a matte-look material.

10) This simple, Topshop black crop top lies on the shoulders and is very similar to the one worn by Sandy. This can be worn with high-waisted trousers for her classic look that flatters any figure. Why not go all out at pop your hair in rollers to complete the outfit?

Thanks for reading, if there are any other movies you would like me to blog about-comment below!
